So Thankful

I'm so thankful to live next to this beautiful view. I'm so thankful for being able to be with my children everyday (even if some days are full-on crazy and I might pull my hair out). And I'm so thankful for a warm, sunny day on this last day of October. Not sure what I did to deserve all this, but I sure am thankful.

Happy Halloween!

Drawing

Escher has started to really enjoy coloring. He is always asking for his crayons and paper.

We were coloring the other day, and he showed me this. "Its Teddy surfing! "

Drama Queen

Riley has gotten to the throw-myself-on-the-floor-in-a-fit-if-I-don't-get-what-I-want phase.

I think if she had been my first child I would have worried about it more. But she's not, so I just giggle and turn around. She picks herself up after a few minutes and will walk away like it never happened.

Escher has started to say, "look mom, there she goes again! "

Being Silly

Helping me Pack

Our Latest Creation

I drew the stick family. Escher drew the ark. We were all coloring it in nicely, even Riley, until Escher got a littlw crazy with the blue crayon.

"Its a flood mommy, a flood to wash away Riley."

Ahh, sibling love.

We Love the Library

What Is Riley Doing?

The Pumpkin Patch!

So it is well known in this house that I LOVE the pumpkin patch. Love, love, love. Yesterday I convinced Escher that he wanted to go (because we all know, what Escher says is what happens...Little Napoleon, haha!) and when Matt came home we convinced him that he wanted to go, too!

We piled in the car and headed to Hunt Club Farms. After strolling through the petting zoo, (where I bravely walked into the chicken coop!) we picked out one big pumpkin and two little ones.

Escher was so excited to see the pigs and the goats. Riley liked driving the tractors. And I was just so thankful Matt came, because this big goose came towards Riley, and Matt firmly but gently put his leg out to keep the goose away. I, on the other hand, probably would have kicked it across the field out of sheer terror and snagged the baby and run away!

I took so many pictures, I uploaded them to an album, if you click on the link below, it will take you to them.

Happy Fall!

Beach Snuggles

Evening Beach with the Kiddos

This past week was a rough one. Everyone has been sick, except Matt. The kids have been cranky. Escher has been wild. Today was just crazy. We had an early dinner tonight, and as I was staring at the clock trying to comprehend what we were going to do until bath and bedtime, I realized that it was absoultely gorgeous outside. Fall has this amazing golden light. I just knew I had to get the kids out so f the house. And my camera was coming too. Sometimes I forget how much   I love to take pictures. When deciding if I should bring my camera I always end up leaving it because of convienence. I made it a point to bring it to the beach with us, and I am so glad I did.

Escher through a fit when we had to leave, but the sun was setting and it was getting chilly. He screamed at me all the way home, and then when we got to our driveway he stops me , puts his arms around my waste and says "Mommy, I just want to tell you something. Iwant to tell you that I  love you. So much. I love you so much Mommy."

And for the most part, the rest of the evening went reallywell. Kids are so funny. Their little brains go a mile a minute. You never know what's coming next!

Moments

Sometimes when I have my big camera with me I get so focused on having correct settings that I forget that photography is all about capturing moments. Sometimes a picture might not be exposed correctly, or cropped right, but the memory shown makes the picture special.

While we were running on the beach this evening Escher snuck under my legs. Riley noticed and came barrelling towards us and she, Escher and myleg had a fun family hug. Moments like this make parenting worthwhile.Because we all know time outs and bossy kids aren't rewarding at all ;-)
