Escherisms, Vol 1.

  • Escher refers to himself as "dude". Its actually very cute! (Although part of me wonders, is it ok if he goes off to kindergarten in a few years calling himself dude? Hmm..)
  • If you ask him if he wants to go to the beach (park, aquarium, store, etc) he says "With Dad? and Mom? and Dude?"
  • He has a rampant obsession with tails! "giwaffe tail? yes! ah-ah (monkey) tail? yes! Rhino tail? yes! Mom tail? yes! HAHAHAHA! Dude tail? nooooo!"
  • He loves learning people's names, and discussing who is who, and when we will see them next, and he asks about everyone in his life on a day to day basis.
  • After Matt stubbed his toe the other night, Escher bent down and gave it a kiss! Say it with me now, "awwwww!"
  • I love how Escher can barely contain his excitement over the smallest things. "cheese pa? YAY!!!! Park? YAY!!!!! Beach? YAY!!!! Chocwate? SUPER YAY!!!!"
  • Escher has a slightly sarcastic answer to some questions, he will say "Uh HUH!" if you ask if he knows about ___________
  • I'm sure there is more but the Dude just woke up from nap. "Mom! MOOOOOoooooom!"

More pictures?

I am having so much fun taking random pictures with my phone these days that I decided I needed to start chronicling them, so that the best ones are all in one place. So, on the right, there is a link that says "On the Go Pics". I'll be adding to them every once in awhile, so let me know what you think!

Just Another Day at the Beach

The only way to beat the late afternoon heat is to head down to the beach and take a long, refreshing dip…

Tough life, I know…

I love his little feet!

The sand formations in combination with the tide creates these cool tide pools along the shoreline at the beach. I just love how the waves sculpt the sand.

Escher loves how he has free reign in the puddles… No life jacket required!

On this particular day, the beach was inundated with seagulls. There must have been a fish feeding frenzy just off shore, these gulls sure were busy!

Such a big man these days!

Catching Waves

Go Ahead and Jump!

"Dude jump!" is a common phrase heard around the house. Escher is the happiest when he is trying to defy gravity!

Rocks at the Beach

A long, long time ago, there used to be a jetty separating the Armed Forces base from the public beach by where we live. Eventually the rocks were submerged underwater and they became something to avoid while swimming in the water by the dividing line.

However, recent crazy tides have unearthed these rocks from their watery life, exposing them to the sun, and of course, curious little boys.

"Come on Mom, Let's go explore!"

But first, we have to go back to our stuff and get some toys...

Escher's shadow is telling him so!

The rocks formed a really cool tidal pool, which became Escher's favorite place to play that day.

He jumped.

And played.

And jumped some more!

Nothing gives Escher greater satisfaction than to plop down with a giant SPLASH! into the water.

From where I'm sitting, does it look like I'm trespassing? Hmm...

Dessert Boy

Sometimes after dinner Escher gets a special treat. He likes it when we squirt a little pile of ReddiWhip on his tray and drizzle it with a little chocolate syrup.

Is that bad? He does love it so much...

Escher loves to give fist bumps. Not sure where he picked it up, but every night at dinner he insists that we form a family fist bump triangle of unity.

Aww, look, he has even offered to share his melted whipcream/chocolate mess with the camera!

Someone has watched Truman eat one too many times...

Happy Birthday Escher!

Two years ago I was walking the halls of Saint Francis Hospital, anxious to meet the little guy who had been kicking my insides for what seemed like forever. After walking, walking, more walking and laboring in the tub, then pushing for hours, Escher was finally brought into this world at 8:12pm. Needless to say, he has completely changed our life. Escher brings laughter and joy to everyone that meets him. His zest for life is encouraging and inspirational. He throws himself with reckless abandon into everything that he does, whether it is playing at the beach, eating dinner, or disovering science experiments in our front yard. Every day we watch in amazement as he hones a new skill or learns a new word. We relish every kiss and hug, and our hearts burst with love as we watch him grow.

I'm still in awe that this came out of me! 7.3lbs...

This picture, without a doubt, is my most favorite picture of Escher.

And this picture, while being my most not favorite picture of me (please pardon the frizzy hair!), it is our first picture together as a 3 person family.

This is Escher, today. This morning, in fact! Doing his most favorite indoor activity, jumping on our bed. Happy Birthday, "Dude", we love you so much!
