Escherisms
- Escher turned 3 on July 7!
- His imaginative play has skyrocketed. He loves to make his animals talk to each other. It is so fun to watch.
- He is adapting to the role of big brother quite well. Most of the time he pays her no attention. Then sometimes he will blurb out "Look her eyes are open!" or "I like her wittle feets!"
- He has run on sentences that last a week. (Or at least it seems like...)
Riley-isms
Riley likes to smile.
Riley also gets kinda gassy.
Are the two connected? Not completely sure...
Riley has a very soft head. She likes it when you rub it.
She is not thrown off by her older brothers loud, crazy antics. She's been listening to him yell for months now!
Riley is a snuggler.
She has very dark blue eyes.

Riley Day 3
Riley's Birth
On the Tuesday before last, I had my 39 week OB appointment. My Dr told me I was almost 5cm and 80% effaced. She gave me the option of scheduling to have my water broken, since it seemed like things were starting to move in that direction anyways. As miserable as I was, I wasn't comfortable with that idea, so we decided to stick it out just a little longer. On Friday July 13 I woke up around 4am with pretty strong contractions. I tried to drink some water and lie back down but after 2 more I realized how stupid that was. I took a long hot shower and then informed Matt it was time to go! We went to get Escher and he popped out of bed and said "Hey whats up guys?" We told him Riley was coming and he was going to Nani's house, he said "Ok, let me get my elley girl and my baby animals and blanky and flop. Let's Go!" and we were on our way.
Once I got checked in the check in room at the hospital, I was 7cm. By 830 or so I was in my labor and delivery room. They let me shower for about 15 minutes and then my doctor told me it was time to break my water. Contractions were coming pretty quickly by now, and I remember the nurse grabbed me, looked me straight in the eye and said "This is going to get intense. Everything will happen pretty quickly. You might feel like you might lose control, but its normal."
Quick was right. After they broke my water, 10 minutes went by and I had to push. It was super intense. At one point the pain just pushes you to the edge and I'm pretty sure I threw my head back and roared like a lion. Escher would have been proud! After just a few pushes Riley was born at 9:31. Our little Friday the 13th baby :-)
